Domain Names

Domains are used in every aspect of Internet usage and typically represent your commercial image to other Internet users, so your choice of domain(s) is important. Assuming the domain(s) you wish to use are not already taken, there is no limit to the number of domains you can register and point at your services. For anyone interested in doing business in Europe who doesn't feel like jumping through hoops to register a .fr , .de or .it for example, you might consider adding a .eu domain to your portfolio for just £10 per year.

Web based Applications

Many of our solutions are based around the Zope dynamic application server platform and the Plone content management system. All web sites we design and host are actually web based applications rather than static web 'pages'. This allows the sites to interact with users and provide two-way communication by default, rather than having to code basic features like authentication, user areas or forums from scratch.

Once web sites are finished, someone has to take responsibility for updating the site, posting news articles and generally keeping it going. This has traditionally been a relatively skilled job requiring training in the use of specialised software. Our platform includes a TTW (Through The Web) interface that allows the end user to maintain any aspect of the site using only a web browser and some very basic (on-line) training.

The overall this result is a site that is relatively cheap to design and very cost-effective to maintain. From a server perspective the solution is also very scalable so in times of high demand, additional server processors can be made available to boost performance, should a site become very popular.

EMail

We provide an online email system based on the Zimbra platform. In addition to basic Email facilities such as IMAP,POP and SMTP, Zimbra provides a calendar,address book and task list, all available through an outstanding AJAX powered web interface.

Blogging

What is blogging? Blog is short for WebLog, which is effectively an online diary or journal kept by one or more individuals. Entries are kept in chronological order and are easy to create, update, read and search.

We provide a blogging module that you can integrate into your own hosted website, or alternatively you can sign up for an account on TrollStomper. This is a free speech blog which is pre-styled and managed by Encryptec, all you need to do is simply add content.

Servers

We can provide complete virtual servers with remote root / ssh access which will allow you to experiment with your own web services or indeed run your own live Internet based services. Our entry level virtual machine has access to a 2.4Gb 64-bit Xeon processor, 5Gb of disk space and 128Mb of physical RAM.

Each machine comes with a clean server installation of Ubuntu (Gutsy) and gives you full access to the system and remote repositories. Typical uses include running a specialised web service with jsp/perl/php extensions, a database server for use with an external website, or an application instance such as SugarCRM.

Groupware

This is an extension to our email system which allows groups of user accounts to cooperate, sharing address books, calendars and files. The package is so comprehensive it can be used as a functional replacement for Microsoft Outlook + Microsoft Exchange.
