Server Hosting
For the more technical, having your "own" server hosted on the Internet can solve a number of issues often experienced when trying to obtain more advanced services from ISP's. In particular, Internet Service Providers tend to provide the same service to many customers, which in many cases is why the can afford to make services available as cheaply as they do. With your own server, you can literally install and run whatever software you wish so long as you have the technical ability.
Encryptec is able to offer both "virtual" and "physical" servers.
Essentially the only difference between these two services is that a physical server lets you choose how much computing power you want. This computing power is then dedicated to you alone.
With virtual servers you still get to choose how much power capacity you need, but you do need to bear in mind that at the end of the day, this capacity may be shared to an extent with other customers.
Virtual Servers
When you order a virtual server you will get to choose how much memory you want the server to have access to, how much disc space you want, and how much bandwidth you would like the opportunity to consume. It is possible to upgrade servers at any time, however upgrades require the resizing of disk partitions and server instance restarts, hence are subject to an upgrade fee.
Physical Servers
Typically we let you install your own server, however we will source the server for you on request. Normally we use Dell rack-mount equipment with regards to performance versus value for money. Note that we normally only accept 1U rack-mount servers and should you require more space than this, a surcharge will apply.
Prices
Please note that surcharges may apply if you exceed your bandwidth allowance which is measured in giga bytes per month.

You will almost always find someone offering what looks like the same thing, but for less money. Typically there will always be a difference between the two products, please feel free to call us and ask in the event you see something that looks cheaper.
As an example, our virtual servers run on Dell Quad-core 2.4G Xeon processors with RAID1 disks and 4Gb of RAM. Even when there are a number of virtual servers running, you will still see some pretty sharp performance.
